Daikin Introduces Its New FWC-D 3x3 Cassette Fan Coil Unit

Brussels, 10 October 2024 – Daikin is pleased to announce the launch of the new FWC-D 3x3 Cassette fan coil unit. This innovative product line features a BLDC fan motor and "open protocol" control capability.  Alongside  the 2x2 range FWF-D, it completes the new BLDC Cassette lineup. The BLDC fan-motor offers significant advantages, including  reduced power consumption and lower noise levels. The cooling capacity ranges from 6 to 9.7 kW, and it is available in two-panel layouts: standard and design panel.

Five Reasons to Choose the FWC-D 3x3 Cassette Range

Reason #1: 2 and 4 pipe structure

This unit is available in two configurations: 2-pipe or 4-pipe. The 2-pipe version is ideal for situations where a seasonal changeover of operating mode is anticipated, as it operates with a simpler system using a single water circuit. The 4-pipe version, on the other hand, has separate circuits for hot and cool water, making it an excellent choice for applications requiring simultaneous heating and cooling of different rooms. This solution is therefore more flexible and convenient, as it can better adapt to the various thermal needs of different areas within the same building, offering greater control and comfort options.

Reason #2: Factory-mounted valves

The factory-mounted valves ensure ease and speed of installation, reducing installation time. This approach also guarantees greater reliability, as the valves are assembled at the factory in compliance with Daikin’s high-quality standards. An additional drain pan is available as accessory to ensure a safer installation and protection against condensation water.

Reason #3: Design flexibility and thermal comfort with four diffusion panels

This system allows air to be distributed through four outlet panels, which can direct the air in different directions. This provides a more even distribution of the air in the environment, ensuring uniform climate control and improved thermal comfort. Next to the standard diffusion panel, design panels are available. The white A new feature is the option to select black design panels next to the white option.

Reason #4: Open protocol

The open protocol feature allows to use a standardised communication protocol that allows interaction with other devices within the building management system (BMS) or HVAC system. This facilitates integration with larger systems and different manufacturers. In addition, being based on an open standard, maintenance and repairs can be carried out more easily by different technicians without the need for specialised knowledge of a proprietary system. It also enables complete integration with other Daikin FCU controllers such as FWEC3A/FWEC10/FWECSAP.

Reason #5: Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) fan motor

The BLDC fan motor operates on direct current and has no brushes, providing higher energy efficiency than an AC motor, and lower operating costs. In addition, the absence of brushes means less wear and tear on the motor's components, extending its life and reducing maintenance requirements. A further benefit is quieter operation compared to conventional motors.
