Daikin Europe is a proud sponsor of the IEA Heat Pump Conference

Triennial conference focuses on the latest advancements in the heat pump field

Brussels, 12 May 2023 – Daikin Europe N.V. is one of the key sponsors of the triennial IEA Heat Pump Conference, which brings together the industry and researchers to talk about the latest advancements in the heat pump field. With its sponsorship, Daikin Europe aims to inspire associations, manufacturers, and policymakers about the value of hydronic heat pumps, based on their successful growth in the European market. Patrick Crombez, General Manager Heating & Renewables at Daikin Europe, will talk about the role of investors in different parts of the heat pump value chain.

Heat pumps as a solution for challenges in the building sector

Daikin Europe is one of the key sponsors of the IEA heat pump conference in Chicago from May 15th until May 18th, 2023. The theme of this year’s conference is the following: heat pumps, driven by renewable power sources, are the key technical solution for challenges the building sector is facing.

To achieve long-term climate and energy goals, the increase of heating and cooling through renewable energy is needed, in combination with large-scale refurbishment and renovation of the world’s existing buildings and industrial infrastructure. The upcoming conference serves as a forum to discuss the latest technologies in heat pumps and exchange valuable knowledge in related topics.

Inspire other regions thanks to success of European hydronic heat pump market

With its sponsorship, Daikin Europe aims to inspire associations, manufacturers, and policymakers about the value of hydronic heat pumps for society and how to implement them in their markets. The European hydronic heat pump market, led by the air-to-water heat pump segment, can serve as an example. It is on a fast growth track thanks to the commitment to the Green Deal and Fit for 55 plans by the European Commission. With a strong growth of 43% between 2021 and 2022, Daikin expects the market to grow even further to 10 million hydronic heat pumps per year by 2030.

To respond to that growth, Daikin Europe has announced significant investments in the heat pump industry in Europe. Patrick Crombez, General Manager Heating & Renewables at Daikin Europe will talk about the role of investors in different parts of the value chain of heat pumps: “In 2021, we started the investments to upscale our production capacity in three existing factories in Europe: Germany, Belgium, and the Czech Republic. In addition, we will open a new factory in Poland in 2024. This is part of a wider growth plan, that includes the creation of a pan-European installer network to support installer development and secure quality and safety. With these investments, we aim to inspire not only the US market, but regions around the world and convince them of the vital role heat pumps play to fight climate change. We all need to step up a notch, together.”
