Daikin Altherma 4 residential R-290 heat pump series adds new classifications to the range

Brussels, 15 January 2026 – Following the launch of the Daikin Altherma 4 EPSK series in April 2025, Daikin has announced a significant new addition to the range. The new Daikin Altherma 4 EPSKS Series will be available in 4-, 6- and 7kW capacity classes. Smaller and just as energy efficient as the larger capacities of the Daikin Altherma 4 range, the new Daikin Altherma EPSKS models are designed to heat mid- to highly insulated houses comfortably and cost-effectively, while also providing domestic hot water. With a leaving water temperature up to 70°C, the new units generate the right amount of heat for underfloor heating, as well as traditional hot water radiators requiring higher temperatures. An extremely high-performance air-to-water heat pump, the new EPSKS range makes it easy to make the transition to a lower carbon solution.

Outstanding performance, reliability and comfort

The Daikin Altherma 4 is the first Daikin heat pump for residential applications developed to use R-290 (propane) as refrigerant. R-290 has a near zero Global Warming Potential (GWP). Dedicated Daikin safety components are included in the design such as a gas separator to prevent refrigerant exposure, factory mounted anti-freeze valves, sealed switchbox and gas sensor with automatic fan operation. This technology guarantees full safety during unit transport, installation and operation.

Offering reliability and consistent warmth even at outside temperatures as low as -28°C, the Daikin Altherma 4 is built for all-round comfort, providing space heating via radiators at 55˚C and via Under Floor Heating at 35˚C , as well as domestic hot water up to 70°C. Cooling is also available as required. A leaving water temperature of 70°C/75˚C supports traditional hot water radiator heating emitters making it a suitable replacement for gas boilers.

Contemporary design for convenience and style

Redesigned in a new compact size, the latest Daikin Altherma EPSKS Series outdoor units offer easier manoeuvrability on site. Ergonomically positioned PCB and factory-mounted components plus reduced water piping size and minimum water requirements simplify installation and cut costs.

The contemporary, sleek exterior of the new unit, including black louvered grill ensures minimal fan visibility. The reflective cover and side panels reflect the background environment, allowing the unit to blend discreetly into its surroundings.

The Daikin Altherma 4 EPSKS range incorporates in-house developed and optimised technology to ensure household comfort day or night.

Smarter control

An intuitive smart interface with a new 5” colour touch screen MMI, with WLAN standard included and remotely updated software, offers easier, faster and intuitive navigation control. The new MMI and software simplifies pump set up, and allows installers to remotely consult parameters, without having to visit on-site. The user interface MMI 4 also allows cooling functions to the new smaller classes to be blocked when required.

End users benefit too, by being able to monitor the unit’s energy consumption and adjust home temperature settings on a room-by-room basis, using the Daikin Onecta app.

Dedicated installer training programs

Additionally, Daikin offers extensive installer training programmes to ensure high-quality installation of Daikin Altherma 4 H with R-290, as well as commissioning, maintenance, and repair.

These training sessions, available through the Stand By Me platform, are part of Daikin’s maximum safety policy for handling flammable refrigerants in residential environments. Stand By Me – Certified Partner is open to all installers. For more information about the programme, visit https://www.sbm-cp.daikin.eu/

{Note: In line with Daikin's global refrigerant strategy, Daikin offers alternative residential heat pumps with low flammable refrigerant R-32 for those installation cases where propane cannot be used]
