BRUSSELS, April 27, 2022 - Daikin Europe N.V.'s residential air conditioner ‘Daikin Emura’ has won the prestigious global design awards Red Dot Design Award 2022 and iF Design Award 2022.

Both the Red Dot Design Award and the iF Design Award are highly regarded international design awards. Both awards have a long history and are organised by respected German design institutes. Every year, companies and designers from all over the world submit their entries in the hope of receiving one of the coveted awards. This year, ‘Daikin Emura’ won the award in the Product Design categories of both.
‘Daikin Emura’ was developed as a collaboration between Daikin Europe group and the Technology Innovation Center of its mother company, Daikin Industries Ltd., Japan. It was specifically designed for the very demanding European market and combines high standards in both design quality and performance.

Hiroyasu Kosuge, Product Designer, Daikin’s Technology and Innovation Center says: “We are truly delighted that ‘Daikin Emura’ has won two prestigious international design awards. It is the first Daikin climate control solution that lives up to the idea of ‘one system, one design’. Not only the wall-mounted indoor unit, available in three colours, but also the matching remote control and outdoor unit were designed to meet European architectural beauty and user requirements.”

Tomas Zbornik, Development Supervisor, EMEA Development Center in the Czech Republic says: “‘Daikin Emura’ combines high design quality with high performance. Designed for all seasons, it provides energy savings and optimal comfort throughout the year. Our Bluevolution technology, which incorporates R-32 refrigerant and in-house developed swing compressor, guarantees best-in-class performance, with seasonal efficiency values up to A+++, and low environmental impact.”
When designing its products, Daikin uses the motto ‘Make the invisible air beloved’, with the mission of enriching people's lives with air, while aspiring to visual beauty. Through its design, Daikin is expanding the possibilities of climate control equipment, from manufacturing that pursues functional value to creating new concepts. Daikin Emura design features
The indoor unit has a unique 3D shape, thanks to its curved panels. These curves refer to the harmonised airflow and create shadows that make ‘Daikin Emura’ really come to life. The moving front panel enhances the effect even more. It comes forward, slightly angled – creating a new dynamic and different shadow lines in operating mode, and adding real emotion.
The remote control has the same sleek design with curved lines and Daikin eye. It fits the hand perfectly. And it matches the colours of the wall-mounted unit. The duotone finishing creates a playful floating effect. You can simply attach it to the wall with the magnet holder.
The outdoor unit comes with a redesigned grille that extends horizontally. While shadows make the indoor unit more interesting, they also make the rotating fan of the outdoor unit less visible.
