Daikin introduces powerful automated Indoor Air Quality innovation

Helping consultants, installers, and end-users provide buildings with high indoor environmental quality standards

After introducing the Daikin Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) Sensor and the Air Handling Unit (AHU) Modular T Series, Daikin is pleased to announce the release of a fully integrated solution combining the benefits of both.

Full integration with automated IAQ management

The Daikin IEQ Sensor can now be fully integrated into the Daikin AHU Modular T de-centralized ventilation solution. The integration of the sensor into the operating AHU Modular T system, results in remarkably easy indoor air quality management: the sensor actively uses the data gathered from indoor spaces to adjust the AHU’s settings, so that this AHU goes on to improve the indoor air quality, automatically reducing concentrations of pollutants and small particles such as VOC, PM 10 and PM 2.5, as well as optimising oxygen, humidity and temperature levels.

This kind of environmental sensor integration is unlike any other on the market today. Available as of now for communications with the Daikin AHU Modular T series, the IEQ Sensor’s capacity to communicate will be extended to all Daikin AHU series in 2024.

Real-time tracking and alerts for facility managers

The Daikin IEQ Sensor tracks and monitors indoor air quality conditions through a variety of parameters. Thanks to the Daikin IEQ Sensor and the data it provides, facility managers can track the indoor air quality status in real-time for the building they manage.

Besides measuring indoor air quality, Daikin’s IEQ Sensor also measures indoor environment quality and comfort, as well as electromagnetic pollution through parameters related to noise and light, which also affect people’s well-being.

The IEQ Sensor by Daikin guarantees stand-alone installation and has 12 embedded different sensor that monitors 15 different parameters. It connects to the WiFi network, is easily configured through a dedicated configuration app and can be integrated into Daikin on Site – Daikin’s remote monitoring and smart maintenance solution.

The Daikin IEQ Sensor tracks indoor air quality and comfort levels, and transmits them to Caelum – Daikin’s Indoor Air and Environmental Quality monitoring platform, which visualises the results for each space where the sensors are installed. The web platform Caelum offers options to easily generate reports, provide a real-time monitoring video wall and set up a notification system when thresholds on specific parameters are exceeded. As such, the system is able to send alert messages when indoor air and environmental quality levels deteriorate and require action.

More about the Daikin Modular – T AHU

Available in five different sizes, with an air flow range from 200 m3/h up to more than 4000 m3/h, the Daikin Modular T is an exceptional de-centralized ventilation solution for diverse applications including schools, offices, gyms, shops.

Among the main features, the Modular T includes:

  • Air purity guaranteed, thanks to the three separate stages of filtration ensuring a safe and healthy environment

  • Plug and play connection, together with the DX Coil enables combination with VRV or ERQ condensing units to provide a complete fresh air solution, unique to Daikin

  • An integral mixing damper to help optimize consumption to reduce running costs

Together with a comprehensive choice of accessories, these features make the Modular T one of the most complete and compact AHU ranges on the market.

The minimal footprint is one of the defining characteristics of the new Modular T unit. With a maximum depth of 890 mm for the largest model, installation has never been simpler. Other sizes in the range are equally compact at 790mm, while the smallest unit (size 03) is only 550mm deep. In addition, larger models are supplied in sections for fast, easy transportation and handling.
