Discover our new remote factory tour service

A virtual, guided and interactive tour of Daikin’s manufacturing sites for Daikin Applied technologies.

Daikin Applied Europe’s manufacturing facilities can now be visited remotely thanks to the new virtual factory tour, offering a 360° view in several factories and guided by Daikin’s engineers.

Among the facilities available on the newly developed remote tour platform is the chiller factory. The original factory was built in 1969 and has expanded over the years to support the production of the entire Applied product portfolio for the markets in Europe, the Middle East & Africa, Asia, South America and Oceania.

Today the factory covers more than 20,000 sqm and manufactures over 10,000 chillers and over 5,000 compressors per year.

Come take a look at the chiller factory

The whole factory surface based in Rome (Italy) has been mapped to show where the air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, screw and centrifugal compressors and the recently released R-32 Small Inverter Chiller series are assembled. This last facility is particularly interesting because it needed a different manufacturing approach to meet the requirements of a ‘made-to-stock’ production, resulting in a different and dedicated layout of the production line.

The chiller factory also provides testing facilities complying with the Eurovent and AHRI certification standards. These facilities allow performance tests which clients can either attend and witness in person, or follow remotely thanks to the remote witness test service. This new service will be released as one of the final chapters of our Digital services project, which includes the remote factory tour as well.

A great example of one of the test facilities is the new climatic chamber which has been AHRI (Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute) and Eurovent approved. It has been independently verified and accredited to test standards such as EN 14511:2013, ISO 9614:2009 and other major recognised European and American HVACR industry standards.

Discover the air handling units factory

Along with the chiller factory in Rome, the air handling units (AHU) factory based in Milan will also be available for remote tours.

It was established in 2009 and is currently the largest Daikin European AHU factory. The plant manufactures over 2,500 air handling units per year, offering technology that ensures high energy efficiency and high indoor air quality levels under any operating condition. In addition, the factory produces control panels and both centralised and decentralised ventilation solutions.

Wander through the inverter factory

To complete the guided remote tour, Daikin Applied Europe’s Power Electronics Division, which opened in 2018, has also been added to the experience. This division is the result of the acquisition finalized in 2018, when Daikin decided to invest in a team of professionals fully dedicated to the development of Inverter technology. The result is the inverter factory in Vicenza, Italy.

Wanting to increase efficiency and save energy on every scale, Daikin pushed the in-house development of the Inverter technology to offer a complete package of solutions. For example, the plant designs and produces inverters which are directly integrated in the Daikin in-house developed screw compressors. In addition, it manufactures electrical panels with Inverter technology for centrifugal compressors.

Tour Interactivity

The virtual factory tour has been built to guarantee interactivity and flexibility thanks to the use of a dedicated 360° platform, offering visitors a first-person view on Daikin Applied Europe’s world and their technologies.

The tour aims to show the factories in a modern way, ensuring the direct and real-time contact (audio/video) between Daikin engineers and visitors during a live session, for instance using a video call between participants. Through the platform, Daikin will be able to offer an experience completely tailored to the actual interests of the visitors, showing and describing exactly what the visitor wants to see.

*The service is already available, and it will be possible for visitors to book visits by getting in touch with their local Daikin sales representatives.
