Providing cooling & heating for small residential buildings

Daikin’s BLUEVOLUTION heat pumps are being integrated with drain-back solar system kits in small sized residential projects to use solar energy for hot sanitary water production.

The new R-32 Small Inverter Chiller has proved its value in residential projects, showing the wide variety of applications covered by Daikin’s comprehensive product portfolio, ranging from large stadiums to relatively small homes.

One recent project that uses Daikin’s BLUEVOLUTION heat pumps and R-32 Small Inverter Chiller was carried out in Porto, Portugal.

About the project

The main goal of this project was to deliver a solution that could provide cooling or heating, based on the thermal needs of the season, as well as hot sanitary water. The solution also had to ensure absolute reliability, high energy efficiency, and low running costs.

More about the project, the solution and the product

Daikin met the customer’s needs with the new R-32 Small Inverter Chiller (heating version) – a heat pump solution that easily meets the project’s capacity needs (16 kW) and delivers the highest energy efficiency values in its product segment in the market.

The R-32 Small Inverter Chiller was installed to provide either heating or cooling (based on the season) to indoor fan coils, as well as hot sanitary water. The system is also connected to a Daikin solar drain-back system, which uses solar energy to integrate the production of sanitary hot water and increase the efficiency of the entire system.

The new R-32 Small Inverter Chiller was a vital part of the solution for the project as it could meet all the project’s requirements thanks to its modern design that provides outstanding efficiency and full inverter units that are optimized to provide the best performance with a low GWP refrigerant.

Reliability was ensured by Daikin’s huge experience in developing R-32 technology

In 2018, Daikin was an early innovator and made history by introducing the first R-32 refrigerant chillers, followed by free-cooling scroll units the same year, and the R-32 Heat Pump in 2020.

Today, Daikin has the highest number of R-32 installations in the world as a testimony to the experience, knowledge, quality, and reliability of its R-32 products.
