Record Sales for Sky Air Series - DEU18-026

07/09/18

Sky Air A-Series Achieves Record Sales

A year on from the launch of its pioneering Sky Air A-series, Daikin Europe is celebrating outstanding sales success, reporting a 15% sales growth, which has resulted in a significant increase in market share. The all-new Sky Air A-Series is part of Daikin’s comprehensive portfolio of low carbon footprint HVAC solutions.

Daikin was the first manufacturer in the world to introduce R-32 using its award winning Bluevolution technology in residential and commercial air conditioners.  The company continues to lead the market with its Sky-Air R-32 range which is the most comprehensive one available, covering all applications and indoor model options.

The success of the new Sky Air A-Series is not only due to the R-32 refrigerant, which offers lower GWP and requires a lower charge compared to R-410A, but also to a system design that is the most installer-friendly yet.

Better by design

One of the fundamental differences that puts the new Sky Air A-Series series in the lead is that it has been completely redesigned to offer a brand-new solution, rather than just a drop-in refrigerant replacement. The result is a system that offers new levels of energy efficiency and comfort for users and which also has flexibility and easy installation at its core.

Incorporating lighter and more compact units to make on-site placement easy, the Sky Air A-Series uses existing piping and wiring for faster, disruption-free installation without the need to cut open walls, making it an ideal replacement choice for older systems.

Also instrumental to this latest success is the system’s unique Variant Refrigerant Temperature (VRT) technology, which intuitively adjusts refrigerant temperatures based on weather conditions and building demands and uses a higher temperature.

Comparative field tests undertaken during 2017/2018 have shown a greatly reduced running cost with up to 21% savings and improved comfort thanks to a more consistent indoor temperature.

The system is also distinguished by its clear seven-segment display, which makes commissioning of more advanced features simple for installers.

The all new Sky Air A-series can be controlled remotely thanks to the new Daikin online controller and connects, of course, to Daikin’s unique round flow cassette with auto-cleaning filter.

A landslide victory

Daikin’s sales achievements underline the shift towards lower GWP solutions, with an average of 60% of sales accounted for R-32 systems across Europe (Excluding France and Spain where regulatory changes are expected by the end of this year, allowing a broader transition to R-32), rising to 75% in some countries e.g. Belgium, Italy, Germany, Portugal and Sweden.

For Holder, one of the biggest Polish installer companies with a 21 million PLN turnover, the Sky Air A-series were a success, resulting an award for selling the highest number of Sky Air A-series in this first year.

“Our partnership with Daikin played a significant role in our company’s success. Daikin’s leading industry status, extensive product range and innovation are key in this.” says Michał Kowalczyk, the owner of Holder.

“Environmentally friendly features, whilst important, are not the only requirement in the choice of system.  The low running costs are equally significant to the appeal of the new Sky Air A-series. For many of our customers, the small dimensions of the external unit, as well as its low height, which allows installation even closer to windows, is also an important consideration.”

The record sales results are further backed up by widespread industry recognition, which has led to multiple awards for innovation and performance:

  • Air Conditioning Innovation Award at the RAC Cooling Industry Awards in 2017
  • Energy Efficient Product of the Year HVACR at the Energy Awards in 2017.
  • Air movement product of the year at the H&V news awards 2018
  • ACR product of the year at the national ACR & heat pump awards 2018

Anthony Ysebaert, product manager Sky Air, Daikin Europe NV says:

“This success sets us ahead of our targets in meeting the requirements of the new European F-gas Regulations. It confirms our approach in converting to R-32 as a lower GWP refrigerant requiring less charge while offering improved performances. The industry recognition underlines the major efforts done throughout the design and development to improve energy efficiency, functionality and usability.”
