Daikin supports TeamNL with clean and fresh air at Olympic Summer Games 2024

Top performances require top conditions. Daikin’s energy-efficient air conditioning units guarantee the best possible air in the Paris hotel accommodations of Team Netherlands during the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2024.

Comfort and good sleep are key for athletes to rest and perform at their best. Therefore, NOC*NSF (the Dutch Olympic committee and Sports Federation) upgraded the hotel rooms of TeamNL with Daikin split air conditioning systems, guaranteeing fresh and high-quality air for their athletes and staff, with minimal energy costs and climate impact.

Energy-efficient air conditioning solutions

Paris aims to hold the most climate-friendly Olympics ever. They therefore did not equip the Olympic hotel accommodations with air conditioning. Edwin Hoogerwerf, director of Daikin Netherlands, explains why this assumption is outdated: “When thinking of air conditioning systems, people think of those at their holiday destinations. Large, noisy, and set too cold. However, these systems are outdated or of low quality. Daikin systems are equipped with the latest technological innovations, making them whisper-quiet and highly energy-efficient. For just 1 euro a day in energy costs, you can sleep comfortably under the best climate and air conditions."

Contributing to Olympic performances with 100 years of innovation

For over 100 years, Daikin has been a pioneer in creating comfortable and healthy indoor environments. And that is exactly what TeamNL was looking for. Pieter van den Hoogenband, Chef de Mission for the Olympic Games, said: "The well-being of our athletes is of the utmost importance to perform at their best. Sometimes our athletes also need to sleep during the day; we know that sleeping at a temperature of 18 to 20 degrees Celsius is ideal. Daikin's low-noise air conditioning systems make this possible.”

Optimal indoor climate

The Daikin split air conditioning systems installed by Daikin partner VKB Klimaattechniek in the rooms of Olympic TeamNL also purify the air. They have intelligent sensors that continuously monitor and adjust temperature and humidity for an optimal indoor climate. The sustainable approach is further emphasized by the fact that the installation partner will repurpose the units for other projects after the Games.

Golden collaboration

The collaboration between NOC*NSF and Daikin demonstrates that innovation and energy efficiency can go hand in hand. Thanks to the advanced technologies and sustainable approach of Daikin and its partner, the Dutch athletes will participate at the Summer Olympics under the best conditions, ready to push their limits and strive for gold.
