Brussels, 11 April 2025 – At the upcoming World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, which opens on 13 April, Daikin is hitting a home run, right by its global headquarters. The theme of the Osaka, Kansai World Expo, "Designing Future Society for Our Lives", resonates strongly with Daikin’s mission to provide a comfortable climate to people and contribute to a bright, sustainable future with its innovative technologies.
Legacy in Osaka
A century ago, Daikin was founded in the Japanese city of Osaka and has since grown into a global leader in heating, cooling, ventilation, air purification and refrigeration (HVAC-R).
The theme of the Osaka, Kansai World Expo, ‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives’, resonates strongly with Daikin’s mission to provide a comfortable climate to people, creating a bright, sustainable future with its innovative technologies.
Air shaping our future
With the aim of perfecting the air, Daikin is shaping the future of air and showcasing it for everyone to experience at the World Expo 2025 in a variety of ways.
Air that sustains life and connects to the future begins at Daikin.
Improved dining experience at restaurants:
Japanese mountain air – inspired SUIKUU restaurant
Daikin's unique ‘ceiling-supplied displacement ventilation air conditioning’
‘Heat recovery ventilation’, the standard for restaurants of the future
World premiere of the ‘Thermometer of the Future’
‘Dining That Travels Through Air’ allows you to enjoy a meal with comfortable air, recreating real-life spots from around the world

Providing comfort in crowded spaces: The natural ice cool spot
Inspired by traditional icehouses, Daikin’s next-generation ice thermal outdoor cool spot offers a sustainable way to cool rest areas in busy environments. Using ice thermal storage technology and solar power, it delivers comfort with minimal energy use:
- Electricity generated by solar panels is stored in a storage battery.
- Some of the electricity from the battery is used to make ice at night when it is cool.
- The rest area is cooled using radiant cooling from ice made the night before.
This innovative solution ensures energy-efficient comfort, even in the heat of large public gatherings.

Air and water spectacles at largest-ever show area in Expo history
Evening “Under the Midnight Rainbow” show featuring water, air, light, fire, video and music
Daytime entertainment with “The AR Parade of Air and Water” show and the “A Symphony of Air and Water” show featuring approximately 300 fountains and music.
A new Guinness World Record was set (for the ability to interact with fountains of this scale) at the “A Synchronization of Air and Water” show where visitors can amazingly control the fountains.

Virtual Expo that can be enjoyed from remote locations
- Water Showroom: An immersive adventure of water and air where you can experience the enchanted world and content of the “Under the Midnight Rainbow” water show at online spaces within the Yumeshima venue.
- Underneath the enchanting scenery of a rainbow on a moonlit night, visitors will experience the world of the show more profoundly by joining Ao, the main character, and her sidekick Dodo, the spirit of air and water, in taking part in a festival inhabited with wonderous living creatures. Not only will the site recreate the production of the actual show in virtual space, but it will also incorporate interactive elements that enable visitors to participate in the story. As viewers further immerse themselves in the experience of being an island resident, they will start to gain a greater appreciation for the importance of the bonds between water, air and life itself.
- Through this VR venue, people from around the world can transcend the limits of time and space and be a part of Expo 2025 while learning how the two Osaka-based companies Daikin and Suntory view air and water, elements that are essential for sustaining the future.
- Daikin Room offers two VR exhibits where people experience firsthand the importance and possibilities of air:
- Daikin Air Island is set on an enchanted island where invisible air becomes visible, and visitors can experience the various types of air created by Daikin, including ‘air that improves exercise’ and ‘air that promotes mental concentration.’
- Daikin Air Factory: Ride a paper airplane with Pichonkun and experience a game where you deliver comfortable air to the world.
