Daikin’s feel for modern design awarded with Red Dot Design Award 2020
Brussels, 22 April 2020 - The Daikin Altherma HPC heat emitter is one of the winners of the Red Dot Design Award 2020. The unit won in the category of Product Design: heating and air conditioning technology. It combines both heating and cooling, and simply replaces outdated radiators. The design of the Daikin Altherma HPC heat emitter has undergone a spectacular metamorphosis in less than 10 years, giving it a modern look. With this exquisite design, Daikin aims to make its heat emitters (and heat pumps) nice to look at. Its design and use match the houses of the future.
The Daikin Altherma HPC heat emitter is not just an ordinary heat emitter. It can synergize well with heat pumps. Those heat pumps can cool or heat, depending on what’s needed. The unit is also compatible with underfloor piping and can thus replace outdated radiators. The floor standing Daikin Altherma HPC heat emitter won the award. But the emitter is also available in a wall mounted or concealed application, meaning it can perfectly fit in the design of the house. With a depth of only 135 mm, the emitter fits in every home or apartment.
Its innovative appearance and modern design are important factors that played a role in winning the Red Dot Design Award 2020. Daikin’s feel for design exists in response to their customers’ needs. In less than 10 years, the Daikin Altherma HPC heat emitter has become a heat emitter that is not only easy to use, but also has an exquisite and future-proof design.
Patrick Crombez, General Manager Daikin Europe Heating and Renewables says: “We are very honored to receive the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2020. We not only want to make our heat pumps easy to install and use, but also nice to look at. They can easily blend into every home or apartment. This is also valid for our peripherals like the heat pump convectors. Our heat emitters and heat pumps also fit in the design of the houses of the future and are efficient, cost-effective and decarbonizing. To fill the sustainability needs of tomorrow, we believe that every European home needs a heat pump, and we’re making a strong push to make that happen. Our efforts to create a modern design and provide a sustainable choice have now been rewarded with this prize”
The Red Dot Design Award is an international design prize, first awarded in 1955. It has three different disciplines (Product Design, Brands & Communication, Design Concept). Winning products are displayed in the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany. This year, over 6500 products were registered for the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2020, coming from 60 countries. The Red Dot Award: Product Design focuses on the best products of the year: smart products, innovative products and so on. A jury of 36 people from different countries selected the winners. The Daikin Altherma HPC heat emitter is one of them. Since 2018 Daikin has won awards in the heating category every year. Statement by the Red Dot Award Jury: “Due to the current situation, the award ceremony on June 22nd in Essen might not take place - but it is still on the calendar.”
Every year in May we will provide an update of this text.
