Celebrating 45 years of success since Daikin first established a presence in Europe, Daikin Europe N.V. held a grand event last week at the Ostend Casino to mark the occasion.
Daikin Europe N.V. marked its 45th year in Europe last week on a grand scale by holding a partnership celebration and staff event in Belgium at the Ostend Casino. Daikin Europe N.V. is part of Daikin Industries Ltd., a major manufacturing force with a global presence in 150 countries and a turnover of €17,620 million.
Responsible for Europe the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), the Daikin Europe N.V. team has established itself as a clear leader in climate control solutions, with a significant geographic presence, production capability and workforce that continues to expand, delivering an upward trend in profit and sales, year on year. Attending from Daikin’s Senior Management Team were Mr. Inoue, Chairman of Daikin Industries, Mr. Togawa, President & CEO of Daikin Industries Ltd and other members of senior management.
In one of the welcome speeches Mr. Minaka, President of Daikin Europe N.V. said:
“Key to our strategy has been the rapid expansion of our R&D activities, supported by a workforce that has increased from 170 employees five years ago to over 350 today. We founded the EMEA Development Centre in 2011. This resulted in the development of many new products that allowed us to pursue new opportunities in the market, for example in heating, with the launch of the new series of the Daikin Altherma series and a new combustion range. Our turnover exceeded the two billion Euro mark in 2015. Between 2013 and 2017, we achieved 133% growth, with 2018 also set to be a record year.
“On the environmental side, we have also made good progress: we successfully anticipated the current legislation and we were the first in Europe to introduce the new R32 refrigerant, which has only one third of global warming potential compared to previous refrigerants.
“With regard to new business expansion, in 2016, we consolidated our strategy to become the leader across all segments of the HVAC-R market. Concurrent with this, Daikin Europe welcomed Zanotti into the Group, a company with more than 50 years of experience in refrigeration.”
Daikin in vision and sound
On day one of the two-day event, Daikin welcomed 553 VIP guests including official representatives, clients and partners. The high-profile event saw the participation of key regional civic representatives including: Mr. Tommelein, Deputy Minister-President of the Flemish government, Mr. Vande Lanotte – Mayor of the City of Ostend, Mr. Decaluwe – Governor of West-Flanders, Mr. Hayashi – Japanese Ambassador to Belgium - and Mr. Kodama – Japanese Ambassador to the European Union.

The event theme was The Wonderful world of Daikin, chosen to reflect the company’s direction as a visionary innovator, committed to the environment and moving ahead positively in the future.
The day’s programme explored the company’s core values of trust, built around a people centric approach and shared pride, and passion for the company and the environment. This was expressed through a dazzling array of performances from national and international artists across a range of mediums ranging from dance and acrobatics to classic piano and pop music, interspersed with keynote speeches.
