Remarkable synergy between two leaders in climate control – Daikin and Biddle – has resulted in a highly-efficient, combined Daikin heat pump and Biddle air curtain solution for retail outlets and 
office buildings that provides optimum comfort and rapid payback on investment. The solution offers an efficient solution for the retail industry with a reduced environmental impact.
High efficiency, low CO2 emissions
Air curtains minimise heat loss and enhance efficiency in retail and office environments where people regularly enter and exit a building. The combination of Daikin heat pump and Biddle air curtain offers the highest separation efficiency on the market. By combining Biddle air curtains with highly efficient Daikin ERQ heat pumps and VRV® heat recovery systems, users benefit from reduced CO2 emissions and substantial energy savings of up to 72% compared to electric air curtains.
Total solution with short payback period
Daikin and Biddle have the largest range of DX air curtains in the market. This makes it possible to handle any air curtain application. Biddle air curtains are available in comfort (CA) and standard (CY) versions, widths from 1 to 2.5 metres, and in free-hanging, cassette and recessed models, in capacities from 8-25 kW.
Biddle air curtains can be combined with a stand-alone efficient Daikin ERQ heat pump. Or they can be integrated into a VRV® system with heat recovery, with the (almost) free heat obtained elsewhere in the system being used for the air curtain. A VRV® heat recovery system together with the Biddle curtains provides a total solution for customers that comprises, cooling, heating, ventilation and outdoor-indoor climate separation. COP’s as high as 8 are possible. Whether the ERQ or the VRV® solution is chosen, the tremendous savings in operating costs result in a payback period as low as 1.5 years.
Optimum separation efficiency via patented air curtain technology
The high efficiency of the Biddle/Daikin air curtain solution means that lower installed capacities are possible than with other systems. This efficiency is further enhanced by patented Biddle technology. As outdoor temperatures fluctuate, traditional air curtain installations vary the airflow of the curtain. This can lead to losses in efficiency up to 60%. The Biddle comfort air curtain includes a patented damper mechanism that maintains constant airflow in varying ambient temperatures. The width of the discharge is changed instead of the airflow, allowing optimum efficiency regardless of outdoor conditions.
The combination also boasts easy installation, eliminating the need for water and gas connections.
