Daikin develops products compliant with EU's ErP Directive
In July 2005, the EU’s Energy Related Products (ErP) Directive set out eco-design requirements for energy-using products and in November 2009 was extended to include energy-related products.
In 2013, the first set of minimum requirements for air conditioning equipment up to 12 kW was introduced, and tighter requirements are due to come into force in 2014. In response to the ErP directive, Daikin introduced the Seasonal Smart range in 2011 and the Seasonal Classic in 2012. Both of these commercial air conditioners, designed for the office and retail markets, already comply with the 2014 requirements.
